William Gurnall was an English Puritan clergyman who served as rector of Lavenham, Suffolk, for over thirty years. Unlike many Puritan contemporaries, he conformed to the Church of England after the Restoration and retained his pulpit, allowing him to complete his life's major literary project.
That project, The Christian in Complete Armour, is an extensive exposition of Ephesians 6 on the spiritual armor of the believer, published in three parts between 1655 and 1662, and still regarded as one of the most thorough treatments of spiritual warfare in the Puritan tradition.
