British-Canadian theologian (1926–2020), author of the classic 'Knowing God' and a central figure of twentieth-century Reformed evangelicalism.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

James Innell Packer was a British-born Anglican theologian who became one of the most widely read evangelical writers of the twentieth century. Educated at Oxford, he taught in England before relocating to Canada in 1979 to teach theology at Regent College in Vancouver, where he remained for the rest of his career.

Packer helped shape evangelical thought on Scripture, holiness, and the doctrine of God, and served as a general editor of the English Standard Version of the Bible. Knowing God, first published in 1973, remains one of the most influential books on the Christian life of the last century.
